Could
you start a business?
Are
you the type of person to succeed in your own business?
Not sure? It almost goes without saying, that you need to
believe in the product or service you are selling or proposing
to sell. Even if no one else shares your passion or vision,
your faith must be unwavering. There are a number of attributes
budding entrepreneurs should have in order to make a success
of running their own business. These include:
Motivation
You need to be focused on developing your business and keep
the momentum going. This can be more difficult if you are
a sole trader, as you do not have a business partner to
help keep you motivated.
Discipline
This is particularly useful in the area of time management.
Avoid procrastination, get on with the job in hand, doing
the unpleasant or difficult task first. Set yourself achievable
deadlines and try to stick to them.
Organisational ability
This is essential to have for keeping on top of appointments,
correspondence and messages. Invest in a personal organiser,
if you have an electronic organiser make sure you have a
back up copy in case of loss or damage.
Communication skills
Some degree of communications skill is required
to use the right choice of words and expression, and be
able to write a message clearly.
Involve your family
If you are single then this may not apply. However, if you
have a partner and/or children, you need to give careful
consideration about the effect setting up a business will
have on your home life.
Now that you have some idea about the attributes required
to start a business, why not test your qualities?
